    Russian Church of St. Michael the Archangel

    The church was designed in 1894 by architect Cannes, New Louis, the Russian church was built for the wife of Tsar Alexander III, Maria Alexandrovna, the Grand Duke Michael.     Le Suquet (Le Suquet)

    Kazbek Villa

    This large villa is now divided into apartments. In 1897 the Countess of Torby, granddaughter of Pushkin, morganatic wife of Grand Duke Mikhail Romanov, grand-son of Nicolas I, acquires ownership and is expanding the house, once called Kazbek, the name of a mountain in the Caucasus where the Grand Duke was stationed. Here, the Grand Duke and his wife have lived on and off for over 30 years. Mikhail Romanov died at Villa Kazbek April 26, 1929. In his memory, the front of the villa presented a commemorative plaque.

     

    Square Prosper Merimee

    Grand Jas Cemetery
